Wildlife

Many of you have expressed an interest in the wildlife we have on our property.  It is such a beautiful thing to see all these animals (mostly aquatic) enjoy their environment, although they get quite angry with us when we approach.  As you will see, we are inundated with frogs.  Thousands of frog eggs were laid and hatched in the spring, therefore, we have about a billion tadpoles who are maturing into frogs.  I'm excited for the music that these precious creatures create as we sit on our deck come the fall and enjoy the nature surrounding us.

The picture with the turtle has a funny little story behind it.  John and I were driving to the pizzeria with my sister and her two kids when we spotted a small snapping turtle trying to cross a busy road.  We feared this little creature would not be spotted by some unsuspecting car and be squished so we turned around and were going to help him get to his destination a little quicker. Then John shouted out "put him in the car, we'll bring him to our pond where he'll be safe".  So that is what we did. I picked up this snapping turtle and put him on the floor of the front passenger's seat....well - I don't think I have to tell you what happened next....he was trying to bite my feet and trying to crawl up into the dashboard of the car.   Luckily, my sister had a sand bucket in her car for us to put the turtle in.  We then drove back to the pond and released him.  If any of you have seen Finding Nemo - then you'll understand that the words we figured came out of the turtles mouth when we released him were "Cooooool, duuuuuuuuuude".
